Recently, we’ve been having a lot of energizing, forward-looking conversations with clients at Digital Ink about the use of AI in video. As platforms like YouTube, Google, Adobe, and Runway continue to roll out new capabilities, clients are excited about what’s now possible and eager to understand how these tools can enhance speed, creativity, and impact across their video strategies.

The questions we’re hearing are thoughtful and strategic. How can AI help teams create and test more video content without increasing workload? Where does it add the most value in editing, versioning, and short-form production? How can brands take advantage of AI’s efficiency while still maintaining a strong, authentic voice? These conversations reflect a shift from experimentation to confident, informed adoption.

At Digital Ink, we work closely with clients to turn that momentum into action. We help them identify high-impact use cases, build clear creative guardrails, and integrate AI into existing workflows in a way that feels empowering rather than disruptive. The result is faster iteration, more room for creative exploration, and video content that scales effectively while staying human, intentional, and aligned with brand values.

AI in Video and Social Media

Social media in 2026 will be defined by video dominance, AI normalization, and a renewed focus on human connection. Video remains the most impactful format across platforms, with both short-form and long-form content playing distinct roles, especially on YouTube, which continues to drive outsized business results. At the same time, AI-generated content is becoming mainstream, lowering production barriers and accelerating creation, while increasing the need for transparency and human creative direction.

AI is rapidly reshaping video creation by automating editing, scripting, voice generation, and personalization, making professional-quality video faster, cheaper, and more accessible as recently highlighted in How AI Is Used in Videos – WeVideo. Advances in machine learning, NLP, and computer vision now support everything from automated post-production and AI avatars to video upscaling, interactive experiences, and personalized marketing at scale. While these tools save time, reduce costs, and expand global reach, they also raise concerns around authenticity, ethics, data privacy, and the balance between AI assistance and human creativity. Overall, AI is democratizing video production while reinforcing the need for thoughtful, transparent use.

7 Social Media Trends to Know in 2026 by Sprout Social highlights that audiences are gravitating toward serialized content that feels binge-worthy and personality-driven, favoring recurring formats and recognizable faces over one-off posts. Brands are also shifting away from chasing virality, instead prioritizing resonance, community, and belonging, as social saturation makes meaningful connection more valuable than reach alone. Engagement strategy is becoming proactive, with faster response times, community management, and audience anticipation now central to performance.

Despite AI’s growing role, authentic, human-led storytelling is emerging as a key differentiator, with consumers showing skepticism toward AI influencers and overly synthetic content. Finally, social search continues to rise, particularly among Gen Z, pushing brands to optimize content for discovery on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Reddit through social SEO and answer-engine optimization.

YouTube, Veo 3.1 by Google

Google is expanding its Demand Gen ad offerings with AI-powered image and video tools designed to help advertisers create and test more creative assets with less effort as highlighted in Social Media Today. New features include animated image variations, adaptable designs with branded text overlays, automatic image resizing, and AI-generated video versions in different aspect ratios and shorter formats for Shorts. Google is also introducing Asset Uplift A/B Experiments to test creatives, audiences, feeds, and bids, along with updated suitability controls for better placement management. Overall, the updates aim to increase creative flexibility, testing capability, and performance across Google’s demand generation surfaces.

YouTube is rolling out a new suite of generative AI creation tools designed to make short-form video creation faster, more playful, and more accessible. Key updates include Veo 3 Fast, a custom version of Google DeepMind’s video model that lets creators generate Shorts with sound directly from prompts, AI-powered editing that turns raw footage into a polished first draft, and new creative features like adding motion to photos, stylizing videos, and inserting objects via text. YouTube is also introducing Speech to Song, which transforms dialogue into music using DeepMind’s Lyria 2 model. All AI-generated content is labeled and watermarked, reinforcing transparency as these tools expand creativity on the platform.

Veo 3.1 is Google’s latest AI video generation model, built to create high-quality 8-second videos with native audio. Users can generate scenes by writing a prompt or uploading a photo, and Veo produces synchronized visuals, dialogue, sound effects, and ambient audio in a single step. It supports detailed creative direction, including camera movement, lighting, mood, and pacing, while maintaining visual and audio consistency. Designed for speed and short-form output, Veo 3.1 is positioned for creative exploration, sharing, and rapid brainstorming, and is available through Google AI Pro and Ultra plans.

Firefly’s AI by Adobe

Adobe has expanded Firefly’s AI video capabilities to give creators more control after generation, shifting the tool closer to a true editing environment as highlighted in Lifewire. New features include Prompt to Edit, which allows users to modify clips using natural language without regenerating the entire video, camera motion controls that replicate specific camera moves using reference frames, and video upscaling to 1080p or 4K via Topaz Astra. Adobe also introduced the Firefly Video Editor in public beta, a browser-based, multi-track timeline for assembling AI-generated video and audio. Overall, the update positions Firefly less as a one-shot generator and more as a director-style tool for refining AI video.

Runway Gen-4.5

Runway Gen-4.5 is another latest video generation model, delivering state-of-the-art motion quality, visual fidelity, and prompt adherence while maintaining the speed and pricing of Gen-4. It leads the Artificial Analysis Text-to-Video benchmark with 1,247 Elo points and introduces major gains in temporal consistency, physical realism, and precise control across complex scenes and styles, from photorealistic and cinematic to stylized animation. Built on NVIDIA GPUs and available across existing subscription plans, Gen-4.5 expands access to high-quality, controllable AI video while acknowledging ongoing limitations around causal reasoning and object permanence.
